What is Physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy is a health care profession focused on preventing and managing pain, physical impairments and disabilities which may limit participation in work, sport or daily activities. Physiotherapy treatment aims to help you move well, feel well, and be well! Physiotherapy can include a number of different modalities, and at its core the goal of treatment is to help eradicate pain, and get you moving better - with more ease, confidence and strength. Physiotherapists have in-depth training in anatomy, physiology and human movement which positions them to assess, treat and manage a wide variety of conditions and injuries. Physiotherapists understand movement and they know how to get you moving and keep you moving! |

What does Physiotherapy Treatment Look Like?
Your first appointment will be an assessment. Your physiotherapist will take a detailed health history and find out what’s bothering you. They’ll ask lots of questions to understand your unique circumstances and goals.
Next, your physiotherapist will perform some tests to assess how you’re moving and gain a better understanding of what’s happening in your body. Be prepared to move a little here!
Once your physiotherapist has gathered your history and performed tests specific to your concerns, they’ll propose a treatment plan. As long as it’s appropriate, your first visit will include treatment. Treatment could include: manual therapy, exercise, movement, acupuncture, ultrasound, laser, paraffin wax, or cold therapy. You’ll leave with a plan for how to move forward and maybe even a little homework - but don’t worry! We provide videos, pictures and written instructions to help you remember your exercises so you can perform them at home. |
