Winners of the Burlington Readers Choice Award for Best Physiotherapy Clinic in 8 years in a Row

Miriam Mulkewich and Lesley Hughes came together to provide physiotherapy services to the community and work with people of all ages whether it is dealing with an injury or managing chronic disease such as cardiac disease, diabetes or osteoporosis. Their goal is to provide people with the skills and knowledge to improve their physical abilities to allow them to get the most out of life – to be fit for life. This is achieved through one on one physiotherapy treatment sessions, educational workshops as well as pilates and yoga classes.

Miriam Mulkewich BPE, BHScPT - Registered Physiotherapist

Miriam has been working in the rehabilitation field for over 20 years. As a physiotherapist, Miriam has worked in private clinics in both British Columbia and Ontario, as well as at St. Peters Hospital. For the past 10 years she has been providing physiotherapy services to the community of Aldershot.

Miriam received her training at McMaster University earning two degrees in Physical Education and Physiotherapy. Continuing education is important to Miriam and she has completed many physiotherapy specialty courses in manual therapy, running injuries, the Fit Fore Golf program and women’s health (specifically incontinence). Miriam has completed her training in Acupuncture at McMaster University’s internationally recognized Contemporary Medical Acupuncture program. Through STOTT Pilates Miriam has also become a certified Pilates instructor. Miriam maintains ties with McMaster University Physiotherapy program as a tutorial leader.

Outside the clinic, Miriam keeps active through, running, cycling, swimming, Pilates and yoga. If she is not running for leisure or in a race, you may find her running after her 3 children. She is also very involved in their activities or school events.

Lesley Hughes BA/BPHE, BA, MScPT - Registered Physiotherapist

Lesley is a registered physiotherapist in Ontario who has been working for over 12 years to help older adults improve their cardiovascular and bone health. Lesley graduated from Queen’s University in 1996 with a degree in Physical and Health Education. From there, Lesley went on to complete a Bachelors degree in Gerontology from McMaster University in 1998. In 2002, she returned to McMaster to complete her Masters degree in Physiotherapy. Lesley stays connected with McMaster assisting in the clinical skills labs and also acting as a preceptor to physiotherapy students. Lesley received her training in acupuncture from the internationally recognized Contemporary Medical Acupuncture Program at McMaster University.

For more than 10 years, Lesley has volunteered with Osteoporosis Canada and is currently the Past Chair of the Hamilton-Burlington Chapter. She has worked as a physiotherapist in a variety of clinical settings including outpatient orthopedics, inpatients, cardiac rehabilitation, mental health, homecare and chronic disease management.

In addition to chasing after her 2 active young children, Lesley enjoys staying fit with strength training and is currently a blue belt in karate.

Kelly Hopcraft BKin(Hons), MScPT-Registered Physiotherapist

Kelly is a registered physiotherapist with over 13 years of experience working in a private physiotherapy clinical setting.  Kelly graduated from McMaster University in 2000 with an Honours Bachelor of Kinesiology degree.  She then went on to graduate from the first Master of Science in Physiotherapy class of McMaster University in 2002. 

Kelly has also completed continuing education courses in acupuncture, manual therapy and mobilization of the fascial system.

She has been involved as a preceptor with physiotherapy assistant students, high school co-op students and kinesiology students over the years.

While away from the clinic, Kelly keeps very busy looking after her three little boys.


Lauren Wootton, BHSc, MScPT, CIDN. - Registered Physiotherapist

Lauren completed her Masters degree in Physiotherapy in 2012 at McMaster University.  She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Health Science from the University of Western Ontario.  Lauren started with Fit For Life Physiotherapy in April of 2013 after a 4 month locum in Golden, BC working at a sports clinic treating mainly skiers and snowboarders. 

Since graduation, Lauren has completed many continuing education certifications.  She has completed several orthopedic manual therapy courses and is certified in Integrated Dry NeedlingTM as well as Vestibular Rehabilitation. 

Lauren incorporates manual therapy, exercise and dry needling or acupuncture to address a variety of conditions and dysfunctions from sports related injuries to joint pain and arthritis.  Integrated Dry NeedlingTM is a technique that uses acupuncture needles to target individual muscular trigger points that can be a major source of pain and dysfunction.  Lauren is one of only a handful of physiotherapists certified in this technique in the local area.  Learn more about Dry Needling here. She also has a special interest in treating patients with vertigo and dizziness using specialized maneuvers and tailored home exercises. 

Outside of the clinic, Lauren enjoys yoga, ultimate frisbee, travelling and spending time with her husband and their young daughter.

Wendy Hancock BScKin, MScPT - Registered Physiotherapist

Wendy is an Orthopaedic and Pelvic Health Physiotherapist at Fit For Life Physiotherapy. She has a Master of Science degree in Physiotherapy from McMaster University (2004) and a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from Simon Fraser University (1999). Wendy was formerly an Assistant Clinical Professor in the School of Rehabilitation Science, Physiotherapy Program, at McMaster University (2007-2016) where she taught physiotherapy students and physician assistant students in a problem-based, small group environment.Passionate about learning, Wendy has completed several post-graduate courses in manual therapy, acupuncture, and pelvic health. She is a graduate of the McMaster Contemporary Medical Acupuncture Program (2008). She has completed specialized Pelvic Health training in incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse (POP), dyspareunia (painful sex), and pelvic pain using internal evaluation (vaginal and rectal) of the pelvic floor. She has also completed training in Inflammatory Conditions of the Lactating Breast and is able to assist women with breastfeeding-related breast and nipple pain. Wendy incorporates manual therapy, individualized exercise, acupuncture, education and other modalities to help her clients achieve success.

Natalie St. Hilaire BSc, MScPT - Registered Physiotherapist

Natalie graduated from the University of Guelph with an Honours Bachelor of Science in Human Kinetics, then from McMaster University with a Master of Science in Physiotherapy. Her career path began in high school when she started teaching aqua fitness classes in the community. There, she discovered her love of helping others improve their quality of life by achieving their fitness goals. This, in combination with her passion for human anatomy and physiology, led her to choose a career in physiotherapy. 

Natalie has a strong interest in orthopaedic and neurological rehabilitation, as well as senior’s health. She has training in Soft Tissue Release manual therapy and is K-tape certified. She is passionate about helping others improve their quality of life by achieving their functional and fitness goals.

Outside of the clinic, Natalie enjoys spending time with family and friends, yoga, cooking, and travelling.

David Tait BSc(Hons), MScPT-Registered Physiotherapist

David graduated from McMaster University with a Master’s degree in Physiotherapy in 2004 and also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience from the University of Toronto (1998). He has been working in outpatient orthopaedics since 2004 in the Hamilton/Burlington community.

He is a graduate of the McMaster Contemporary Acupuncture Program, and has completed courses in Manual Therapy and McKenzie Theory.

He received training and worked as part of the Interdisciplinary Spine Assessment and Education Clinic (ISAEC) funded by the Ontario Government and specializing in low back assessment, education and promoting self-management.

He has extensive experience working with postoperative patients (including spinal surgery, total joint replacements, and trauma), work and athletic injuries.

He is a father of three (boy, girl and a dog) and when not escaping his busy home life at the clinic, he enjoys biking, hiking and vineyards.

Wayne Lee, RMT - Registered Massage Therapist

Wayne graduated from Sutherland-Chan Massage School & Teaching Clinic in Toronto, Ontario in 1999.

He is registered with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario. With a background in Kinesiology, Wayne believes in combining his knowledge for a well-rounded approach to helping clients. He utilizes a number of techniques including general Swedish massage, trigger-point therapy, passive stretching, cranial sacral techniques and hydrotherapy within his practice.

Wayne treats his clients with both relaxation and deep tissue massage, based on each individual’s situation.


Antonio Iavarone, RMT - Registered Massage Therapist.

Antonio is a graduate of the massage therapy program at Mohawk College and is registered with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario. His passion for sports and the human anatomy are key factors in his decision to become a registered massage therapist. As a result of receiving treatments for his own sports-related injuries, he is keen on helping others get back from their own injuries or ailments and returning to the sports and life activities they love doing.

He is a very strong believer in the healing benefits of massage therapy and he is focused on ensuring his clients receive the best treatment possible and that their individual needs are meet. Antonio is very strong in various techniques including deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy, fascial stretching along with general Swedish massage for relaxation.



Melissa Fehr, RMT - Registered Massage Therapist.

Melissa has recently graduated from the massage therapy program at Mohawk College and has been registered since February 2016. She enjoys playing sports and being physically active, therefore she understands how important it is to take care of ones body so as to partake in even the simplest daily activities without being limited by pain. Melissa strives to provide beneficial treatments to a variety of people. She offers techniques such as trigger point therapy, deep tissue massage and general Swedish massage. As someone who is always looking for ways to help others, she thought massage therapy would be a profession that can be very rewarding.




Amber Snively, RMT - Registered Massage Therapist.

Amber is an honours graduate, holding an advanced diploma in Massage Therapy from Mohawk College and is registered with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario.

Through her training she fostered an interest and understanding of select populations of all ages including chronic pain, pre-natal health, active aging communities, sports injury, and elite performers. Amber’s treatment approach involves using evidence based strategies and various General Swedish techniques and modalities including myofascial release, PNF stretching and trigger point therapy to help each individual reach their

Amber considers herself a lifelong student and is eager to absorb all that she can about massage therapy, anatomy, physiology and how to excel at applying her findings to your maintenance plan or recovery.

When Amber isn’t helping her clients, she enjoys spending time with her family and
friends in the outdoors.

Natalie Jakymyshyn, M.OMSc - Manual Osteopath

Natalie is a graduate of the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy, which is an extensive 4 year academic and clinical program. She completed her program in 2017. She is also a member of the Ontario Osteopathic Association which is a professional association recognized by the Canadian insurance company. In 2005, Natalie graduated with a Masters of Education from Griffith University (Australia). Natalie has worked as a research assistant at the Hamilton General Hospital and as a certified yoga teacher. These experiences encouraged her to deepen her understanding of the human body.

Natalie is a new mom and enjoys taking her baby girl for hikes.




Jill Holden - Certifed Pilates Instructor and Personal Trainer

Jill is a certified pilates instructor, personal trainer and nutrition and wellness specialist. Jill’s passion for fitness began at an early age as a figure skater. The opportunity to skate professionally in a touring ice show led to a new career in off-ice conditioning. Jill’s awareness of the body and proper alignment has allowed her to excel as a pilates teacher and personal trainer. She has over 20 years of experience and has seen excellent results in clients of all fitness levels and abilities.

As a member of Can-Fit Pro and trained through STOTT Pilates and Body Harmonics, Jill regularly attends fitness and pilates workshops and courses to keep current and inspired. Jill looks forward to meeting new students at Fit For Life Physiotherapy and welcomes her existing students to enjoy her new home.


Tamara Cormier - Kinesiologist

Tamara Cormier graduated from McMaster University in 2009 with an Honours bachelor of Kinesiology and Minor in French. Since graduating Tamara has been working in private physiotherapy clinics providing care for diverse clientele.  In addition to working with clients in clinic, Tamara performs ergonomic assessments at their work places and helps clients adapt their spaces to create an environment where they can work safely and efficiently. Tamara has also completed the Bone Fit Program through Osteoporosis Canada and is trained to work with those with low bone density, fracture risk and Osteoporosis.

Tamara is continually learning through workshops, certifications, research and from her colleagues. Courses she has taken include: consistency and effectiveness in exercise prescription, De La Sol Yoga’s teacher training program, pre-natal yoga teacher training, kids yoga teacher training and most recently therapeutic yoga with Susi Hatley.

Tamara has a passion for movement and teaching. She integrates her knowledge to create exercise programs and classes tailored to the needs of the individuals she is working with.

Outside of the clinic Tamara enjoys yoga, dance, the outdoors and travel!
