What does Physiotherapy Treatment Look Like?

Your first appointment will be an assessment. Your physiotherapist will take a detailed health history and find out what’s bothering you. They’ll ask lots of questions to understand your unique circumstances and goals.

Physiotherapist measures knee range of motion

Next, your physiotherapist will perform some tests to assess how you’re moving and gain a better understanding of what’s happening in your body. Be prepared to move a little here!

Once your physiotherapist has gathered your history and performed tests specific to your concerns, they’ll propose a treatment plan.

As long as it’s appropriate, your first visit will include treatment. Treatment could include: manual therapy, exercise, movement, acupuncture, ultrasound, laser, paraffin wax, or cold therapy.

You’ll leave with a plan for how to move forward and maybe even a little homework - but don’t worry! We provide videos, pictures and written instructions to help you remember your exercises so you can perform them at home.
